October 2004

31st October 2004:

I watched 'I Capture The Castle' on DVD... It was quite a good film... Am looking forward to the Christmas break period... I feel a bit run down...

29th October 2004:

1, 2, 3, 4 days ago, I went with a friend to Evensong... I found myself sinking into private prayer... I guess I was repenting for all my sins... I had never attended a church service in my life before...

27th October 2004:

... If I was a bloke, I would go out and get drunk - what's the word, "plastered!!!" - and do things that I would regret in the morning... but I am not a bloke (luckily, phew...) & I will just spend this evening finishing reading 'Eats, Shoots & Leaves'... bloke descriptions: 'unsightful disgusting slob!', 'scummiest piece of scum!!!' (hee, hee, hee...) [Still, better to have a bleeding heart than no heart at all...]

26th October 2004:

Ra ah! I have been destroying things! Please forgive me! This evening is not going very well... Best go to bed in a moment...

26th October 2004:

Ooops! Been naughty! Been surfing, surfing people's home pages! Tonight, I was taken to places I haven't been before...

25th October 2004:

It is half-term week this week. It's very quiet in the office... I have to decide what to do with the remainder of my holiday days. Will see how it goes... I might go on a short break in Europe.

24th October 2004:

I just watched The Human Stain. It was a very good film. Now I am going to spend the rest of the day reading... and lazing around... It's been a good few days off... I feel really refreshed... I wonder what Monday brings in store for me...

23rd October 2004:

Waitresses positively hate me... unless they are innately kind & nice & sweet smiling people... otherwise they spot me a mile off... and we get extremely bad service... or that whoever I am with, saves the day... & the evening goes ok...

21st October 2004:

Midnight Removals
Tonight I helped my brother pack and move house... we loaded up the cars and drove from X to X... It was a nice night... The air was cool and it was a half moon.

18th October 2004:

Whilst driving to work, I saw a large swan fly by... It was amazing because it was so huge but yet able to propel itself through the air - air borne...

17th October 2004:

Hooray, the woman returned the DVD today! Now I can take it out... Just as I expected... (she is fussy like me - watches it & returns it straight away)...

16th October 2004:

I went Blockbuster again, and this time wanted to get out 'Mona Lisa Smile' but then just as I was reaching for the DVD, the woman besides me snatched it up... but all the time she had been looking at other films... it was the only one on DVD - so I got something out instead... A pyscho-thiller... 'In The Cut'... I am still a bit annoyed because I wanted to watch MLS and just wanted an easy going, make you feel good at the end - type of film...  Instead I got out dark and mysterious... like Donny Darko,  a deep heavy film... which might contain scenes of a disturbing nature... I wanted an easy - like Dead Poets Society film... since this film ITC will probably disturb me a bit and I would mistrust people etc, for a while afterwards, etc... until its effect wears off me... Then I thought that BB would do me a deal that I could get it for free next time... but I forgot about that until just a few moments ago... but I didn't want to make a fuss... :(

13th October 2004:

'Girl with a Pearl Earring'
Colin Firth did too much watching, half-hidden behind walls/ through doorways, at the girl Griet. Also, there were too many 'Oh, no! - You caught me unaware: cleaning/ laying out cutlery' scenes, where Griet would immediately then avert her eyes to the floor... I would have liked Griet to challenge Vermeer, when she caught him looking at her. However, I don't think it would have been socially/ historically correct, for her to do so. Perhaps this didn't translate as well from the book to the big screen... (I can imagine that from the book, we hear would hear about Griet's thoughts at these moments...) Also, I didn't watch the film at a cinema, so perhaps only noticed it more because my TV at home was small & 'fidgety'...

But really, I liked the film a lot.

10th October 2004:

Sorry, just went online to check the page uploaded properly and found I had made tonnes of spelling mistakes - it's because I've got a paper cut on one of my fingers and so tried to not use it while typing...!

9th October 2004:

Ra ahhh! I left mt week planner at work this morning! Now I feel ost without it... Racking my brains to remember what I had on it, to do this weekend. On of the things was to watch 'Girl with a Pearl Earring'... will do so...

5th October 2004:

This evening I find myself lonely... There seems to be a lack of 'hooray!' 'life'... I am desperately searching through people's weblogs to find some 'ahhh', some 'life' out there that I can relate to and then move on with my life... I think I fell down... Oh, I know, I will update my page at Friendster - and get rid of that friend who isn't my friend/ but a stranger... the one that when I joined onto as his friend, I found out that he had ten million 'friends' but they were all girls? Strange?

Ooooh! Sneaky, he's disappeared! Wow, feel better... Tomorrow, I have a day off... I look forward to it...

Also, I intend on writing a return email to Jim... (sorry, Jim, I haven't replied to you yet until now... I didn't forget you... just was busy...)

3rd October 2004:

I won a free DVD rental from Blockbuster from Doritos! Yippee! Also, we have Shaggy Ink-cap mushrooms growing in our garden! We are going to eat them... But be warned, weblog surfers, because some mushrooms are deadly poisonous.

I think work next week will be a very hectic one... Lat time I tried to mentally prepare myself for it, it didn't work... This time I think I will just look at the mammoth task and then bit it into chunks and then just work my way through it...

1st October 2004:

Last night I finished reading the third book of 'His Dark Materials' trilogy by Philip Pullman... It was ok... an ok journey to go on/ to read... thanks for the experience... However, let me see, if I had read the first book when I was a kid and then the five years passed until the third book came about, and then I read that, perhaps the ending would have been more magical? Maybe I am too old, past it... but I was a bit disapointed with the ending... I thought it was a bit dull, or maybe I was just sad that  Will & Lyra had to live separate lives.
